Students will complete their own sewing projects based upon their ability. They will learn to safely operate a sewing machine and a serger..

For all students:
Basic sewing supplies: scissors, pins, pincushion, tape measure, hand needles, seam ripper, calk or pencil, container to put everything in. Each student is required to provide their own patterns, fabric, thread, and supplies for that particular project they wish to complete during the course of the school year.

First time beginner students should bring 3-4 yards of fabric, a bag of pillow stuffing, and 10 inches of 1⁄4 inch elastic to class plus their own basic supplies. Their first projects will include a pillow, pillow case, hair scrunchie, apron, and tote bag. (Parents, I would recommend not spending a lot of money on fabric for the first few projects as the students are learning and will make mistakes. A great place for supplies would be thrift shops, garage sales, and any sewing grandma you might know.)

A portable sewing machine would be helpful to bring to class but not necessary.
